As a Counselling model Emotional Therapy (ET) acknowledges the heart as well as the mind and while it has similarities with conventional counselling, there are also important differences.

Sometimes, we can’t identify the emotions we have, or we know that we are constantly feeling angry, guilty, anxious or fearful although we don’t know why.

Using a combination of listening, techniques specific to ET, exercises and journal work, an Emotional Therapist will firstly help you to make the connections with why you are feeling like you are. But the process, which is very supportive and gentle, rather than using the mind to analyse things, seeks to promote healing of the original emotional wounds by working through the feelings.

The ultimate aim of Emotional Therapy is to help us remove the barriers, and learn how to offer ourselves the emotional support, which we may never have been given at any time in our lives, so that when a problem arises or old buttons are pressed, we can feel and respond differently.

As a counselling model, ET is an integrative and holistic therapy using the inner child model. It has been practised for around 20 years, and incorporates aspects of other models of counselling as well as having developed its own ethos.

Emotional Therapists train with The Foundation for Emotional Therapy for a period of not less than 4 years. They subscribe to a professional code of ethics and practise and have a commitment to continuing professional development and supervision.

My career has largely been spent in the high stress environment of television. The decision to retrain as a counsellor came out of my own personal experience of anxiety.

My practice in Lidlington is convenient for all the surrounding villages including Flitwick, Ampthill and Woburn and is also easily accessible from Bedford, Milton Keynes, Dunstable & Luton.

I am a member of the following organisations:

FET - The Foundation for Emotional Therapy
BCMA - The British Complementary Medicine Association
NFSH - The Healing Trust

Experience
My career has largely been spent in the high stress environment of television. The decision to retrain as a counsellor came out of my own personal experience of anxiety.

After completing an NHS course in anxiety management I subsequently became a telephone counsellor for First Steps to Freedom offering support to those who suffer from general anxiety, panic attacks, depression, phobias and OCD. I have also worked in Primary Care as part of the Complementary Health team within a local NHS GP surgery.

In addition to Emotional Therapy I am a qualified Medical Herbalist, and Healer. I offer Healing free of charge on an appointment basis each Monday from 4 'til 8pm. If you would like further information on Spiritual Healing please give me a call or visit www.thehealingtrust.org.uk.

Fees
£30 per hour session.

Clients in receipt of benefits may be able to apply for reduced cost sessions to the Foundation for Emotional Therapy's Subsidised Therapy Fund. Please enquire.
