I am a qualified, experienced, person-centred counsellor based in Brighton. I offer short and long-term counselling to adults and young people experiencing a variety of issues. I also offer couples counselling. My approach is warm, non-judgmental and empathic.

Contacting me:

Accessing therapy can be a daunting prospect, there are many counselling approaches to choose between and telling your problems to someone new takes courage. I welcome telephone or email contact as an opportunity for you to ask me questions, have an informal chat and organise an initial introductory session. The initial session is a chance to begin getting to know each other and explore what you would like from counselling and whether my approach is right for you.

About the way I work:

I offer a welcoming, warm and accepting environment in which it is possible to explore problems and issues in an open, uncensored way. According to Carl Rogers, the founder of person-centred therapy, when a counsellor offers understanding and acceptance in a genuine and honest way and the client perceives this approach then positive, therapeutic change takes place. I have witnessed clients grow in self-awareness and self-acceptance through feeling deeply understood and warmly regarded in therapy.

I offer a confidential space in which, no matter what you say, you will not be judged or told how you should feel or behave. Instead we will work together to explore solutions and coping strategies that feel right for you. I tailor my approach to suit your needs and requirements, integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) into my practice where a more structured, goal-oriented approach feels appropriate. CBT can be really useful in helping to make the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours and includes exercises which can be practised at home.

I am fully insured, receive clinical supervision and ongoing professional development training. I am also a member BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I adhere to their ethical framework.
