Dramatherapy with Mel Bates, HPC Registered Arts Therapist (Drama).
Dramatherapy provides a creative, arts-based way to help with emotional difficulties or to further self-exploration and wellbeing.
People come to dramatherapy with a wide range of issues such as:
low self-esteem and confidence.
bereavement.
depression.
sexual abuse and trauma.
anxiety.
stress.
relationship difficulties.
being at a time of transition and change.
The method makes use of drama and creative techniques for expression. It enables experimenting in different ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. It offers a safe environment to reflect upon existing beliefs, attitudes, and feelings.
Drama can be transformative in literally embodying characters, roles, feelings and dynamics to build a stronger sense of self and also in the insights it uncovers. From greater understanding, it is more possible to make positive changes in our lives.
There is no need to have experience in drama or acting.
