I have trained as a psychodynamic counsellor and also incorporate ideas from interpersonal psychology and narrative therapy in my work. I am also interested in the therapeutic use of creative expression, especially the use of creative writing and art. I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of Sussex Counselling.

I have worked for many years within the voluntary sector in Brighton and Hove. Between 2001 and 2008 I worked as the Co-ordinator of the Counselling Service based at the Youth Advice Centre in Hove. I have a particular interest in working with young people aged 15 to 30 years of age and in helping them to overcome the barriers they feel prevent them from fully participating in a fun and fulfilling life, in their education, or in relationships with their families or friends.

I have undertaken research and development work on young people's mental health issues for both the Children & Young People's Trust (CYPT) in Brighton & Hove and for Specialist CAMHS (part of Sussex Partnership Trust). I have also worked as a manager of counsellors working in schools and am currently working as Development Manager for Hove YMCA.

While managing the Counselling Service at the Youth Advice Centre I also managed a large student placement scheme, placing and supporting over twenty counsellors-in-training each year. I have a number of years experience supervising counsellors in training, and welcome enquiries from both qualified and trainee counsellors looking for Clinical Supervision of their work.

I have undertaken advanced training in Clinical Supervision and offer counselling supervision to practising counsellors. I also offer external supervision to those who are not counsellors but who work with others in a supportive or managerial role. I currently work as a Clinical Supervisor in private practice and as a group supervisor with Arun Counselling Centre.

I work from consulting rooms in the Hanover/Elm Grove area of Brighton, and also from consulting rooms near Seven Dials in Brighton.
