My practice is Person Centred: I work on the basis that whoever is seeking help has a sense of what it is that is out of balance with them and knows too what it is s/he needs to look at. This may not always be clear and be no more than a sense. I look to my clients to bring up what they want to talk about and over time, I am increasingly more able to offer links. I believe I am a companion and perhaps a guide but do not know the truth for someone else.

I work on the basis of the relationship we make, maintain between us and forge over time. It is a commitment for us both.

My practice is informed initially by the Quakers who have a very practical application of faith and spirituality in the everyday world by attending to the realities of being alone and always in relation to others. It is also informed by Froebel (my mother was a Froebel teacher); he was the 'inventor' of Kindergartens, also an early exponent of the importance of play and experiment in our early years.

These early and important influences later drew me to Existential Philosophy, to Person Centred ideas and practice, Gestalt & TA and I also draw ideas from the psychoanalytic tradition. I also feel it is hugely important to be mindful and reflective of current ideas in all sorts of Arts - theatre, cinema, exhibitions, novels, plays, poetry and so on.

I quite literally cultivate my garden as an enjoyable activity in itself as well as a means of expression and an aesthetic pleasure.
