As an Integrative Therapist I draw on all three schools i.e. The Psychoanalytic, Cognitive Behavioural and Humanist / Existential schools of Psychotherapy in order to create bespoke therapy for each individual client.
I do a lot of work with people suffering from anxiety, depression and stress, burnout and trauma. In these types of situations, I find drawing from one of the CBT (Cognitive Behavioural) therapies very useful, for symptom reduction. Often the client needs more than this though.
Sometimes, the client is not cognitively strong, in which case we need to script something with a greater proportion of input from one of the other schools like Humanist or Existential.
As each client is unique, I feel there is no "one size fits all" therapy.
I also run an Obesity Clinic in Bristol based on changing the client's relationship with food.
I work closely with a team of Bariatric surgeons as well as with a Plastic surgeon in order to facilitate these options, should the client need them.
