Couple Counselling Relate.Experience I have been interested in human emotions, behaviours and the way we relate to each other since I was a child and have been studying the various theories of the human psyche since the late 60s.
My training started with couple counselling at Relate in 1990 and I worked there until 2001. Completely captivated by the tenacity and courage of my clients, I continued working, training and studying in various techniques so that I could offer the best tools for each individual and unique person that came to see me.
Meanwhile, I worked for some years on the integration of anti-discriminating practices into the professional standards of NVQs in Advice, Guidance, Counselling and Psychotherapy in order to protect and respect members of minority groups.
I went on to study at Metanoia Institute where I combined Analytic and Psychodynamic theories, Object Relation theories, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred, Gestalt, Transpersonal and Existential theories, Transactional Analysis, Attachment and Developmental theories and Neuroscience. I was awarded a distinction in Integrative Psychotherapy at MSc level through Middlesex University.
My study of neuroscience gave me an insight into how big and small traumas affect the brain and therefore the mind. This led to my interest in finding ways of actively treating trauma through Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) with pleasing results.
I have two supervisors from different orientations who support me in my own practice and I am a supervisor of other counsellors and psychotherapists.
I am accredited with Relate, Metanoia Institute and United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), a member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing Association (EMDRA) UK and Ireland.Fees My fee is £50 per hour.
