Strong emotions like depression, anxiety and anger are at the root of why so many people seek psychotherapeutic help. Human Givens counselling is effective and practical for people who are depressed, anxious, phobic, or suffering from trauma, addiction, anger disorders or relationship problems. It is effective because it takes into account the persons emotional needs, looks for what is missing in meeting those needs and facilitates the person to set small concrete and realistic goals to meet those needs. When a person's needs are met in balance that person will be emotionally healthy. Human Givens therapy aims to help you achieve your therapeutic goals in as few sessions as possible.

    Experience
I have worked as a residential social worker caring for children in the care system. More recently I worked with the Education Welfare Service helping parents and children identify barriers to children's education and assiting them to find solutions to those barriers. For the past five years I have worked in Milton Keynes with an early intervention and prevention project in which we have developed various programmes for pupils, for parents and for parents and pupils to help meet their needs with a view to overcoming obstacles to their wellbeing. As part of this project, in conjunction with three other colleagues we wrote a programme for parents based on the Human Givens approach (see http://www.mindfields.org.uk/?pid=82). I also run a programme for parents, The Incredible Years, which explores how to promote positive behaviour in children (see www.incredibleyears.com)
