Graduate member of the British Psychological Society.
I am a part time psychology lecturer at the University of Bolton.Qualifications & Training BSc (hons) 1st class Social Psychology, PGCE, MBPsS, Postgraduate Diploma (CBT).Experience I am a part time lecturer in the psychology department at the University of Bolton and have been there for over 10 years. During this time I have taught students who are studying for a BSc in Psychology and Counselling. For example, in 2010 & 11 I was the main tutor for a module called Coaching for life skills, stress and transition' (attended by over 85 students). Moreover, this year I will also be involved in teaching counselling skills to students on the level 3 counselling course held at Bolton University. Likewise, I have been invited to teach (in November 2011) on a MSc in applied psychology (on a module called an introduction to CBT) at Salford University.
My professional background and my role as a personal tutor (providing one to one support) means that I have many years wide ranging experience of providing people (of all ages and walks of life) with help and advice. Similarly, my academic training & teaching has given me an in depth knowledge of psychology and extensive experience of how to help people with personal issues.
I believe in treating the client with respect and humanity. I adopt a 'down to earth' client centred approach (you are in control) coupled with flexibility, warmth, compassion, humour and openness.
Most importantly, I am a fully qualified CBT therapist (it has taken me (in all) at least 6 years of studying to reach this point). I strongly recommend that you explore my website to obtain an insight into what CBT 'is about' what to expect, and why it has become so widely recommended & used within the NHS.
Please bear in mind it is highly unlikely that my mobile will be on if you phone me (in meetings, teaching, with clients, time off etc) so please leave a message (or e-mail me) and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Finally as I only work part time at University I am available during normal office hours similarly, evening and weekend appointments are also possible, contact me for further details.Fees In order for you decide if you will be comfortable working with me the first consultation (around 30 minutes in duration) is free of charge.
