My practice draws on four major approaches; Person Centred, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Jungian. Which of these is uppermost as I work depends on the needs of the client and the issue they bring to the therapy. I believe that the work is a joint venture between the client and myself, and that our relationship is therefore extremely important.

I have worked with a wide range of ages, cultural backgrounds and problems. I have been a supervisor since 1990 and am a primary supervisor for the Metanoia Integrative Dept. I have also sometimes worked as a supervisor and consultant for organisational issues.

Qualifications & Training

  • BA Hons (Lond), MA (Lond), PGCE.
  • Diplomas - Counselling Skills, Gestalt, Hypnosis, Integrative.
  • Certified Transactional Analyst, UKCP Reg Psychotherapist.

    Experience
In 1980 I was a teacher of Modern Languages with a pastoral role for my year group. I found T.A. extremely helpful and began teaching it to teachers under the supervision of Margaret Turpin, who was one of the founders of T.A. in the UK.

I then began training proper and completed a four year training. In 1984 I began training in Gestalt, and continued to train in T.A., beginning the course again at a different institute, I graduated in T.A. in 1989, and began teaching T.A. as a PTSTA. In 1990 I graduated in Gestalt and became a Gestalt trainer in 1991 having charge of the week-end course at Metanoia. In 1992 I was lucky enough to be invited to go to Eastern Europe and introduce both T.A. and Gestalt in Slovakia and the Czec Republic. I was also invited into a team of trainers working in Switzerland to run 5 day training events in T.A. and Supervision. During all this time I was establishing a private practice, which I run to this day. I ran workshops on many topics including dreams, stress and parenting. In 1995 I had to give up travelling and continued to run my own practice, and supervision and examination preparation days.

I am now semi-retired. It is also relevant to say that I am somewhat disabled. I have two grown up sons.
