I am a highly experienced practitioner, having worked with individuals, couples and families for thousands of hours. 90%+ of my clients report feeling better about themselves and their problems following counselling. People say they find me professional, easy to talk to, warm and responsive with a sense of humour.
Short or long-term counselling is undertaken according to peoples needs.
When life is not going well, we can experience feelings of depression and anger together with sleep disturbance. These symptoms indicate that we could benefit from counselling. Hour-long counselling sessions provide an opportunity to talk things through in a relaxed, neutral environment. Through exploration, by looking at alternative perspectives and by practising simple CBT techniques, many people achieve a greater sense of their own ability to manage their lives more positively.
Who I counsel and why: I counsel individuals, couples and families from different backgrounds who are now, or in the past have been, in opposite or same-sex relationships. The issues covered may include: affairs, divorce, relationship break-down, low self-esteem and confidence building, money, emotional, physical or sexual abuse, anger, depression, anxiety, work related stress, parenting, family, addiction and re-formed families.
Theoretical and Ethical Framework: theoretically my approach is largely systemic, based on a psychodynamic training and includes the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Ethically, I adhere to the BACP Code of Practice and therefore, comply with their supervision and continuing professional development requirements.
