People seek counselling or therapy for a variety of reasons. You may feel isolated, depressed or anxious. You may be struggling with lack of confidence, or overwhelmed by distressing feelings which you do not understand; or you may feel unable to recover fully from a bereavement, loss or trauma suffered recently, or in the past. You may be experiencing difficulties with a relationship, or a family member.
Many people are distressed or unhappy at some time in their lives, and we all have a tendency to repeat unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Recognising our problems and working with a therapist can be a constructive way forward.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy can offer a safe, confidential and reliable setting in which to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Through the process of therapy, we try to understand how the difficulties or painful situations we experience in the present often have their roots in past experiences. Together we explore your response to life events and reflect on the ways in which you relate to yourself and others. This can deepen self-awareness and make sense of recurring problems. A clearer understanding can allow the possibility of greater freedom of thought and action.Qualifications & Training BSc, PhD, Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
