I work in a Humanistic way, integrating both Person-Centred Counselling and Gestalt Therapy. This means I offer a safe and confidential environment where I strive to be empathic, non-judgmental and genuine. My counselling is client-led as I strongly believe that only you know what is best for yourself. Therefore, I trust you to bring the material you need to our sessions. I will listen attentively in order to understand your experience and value you positively as a person.

Hopefully, throughout our relationship (which both Person-Centred and Gestalt theorists believe is the key to successful therapy), you will learn more about yourself and be able to identify any obstacles that are preventing you from reaching your full potential. In addition to the 'talking therapy', I can work (if requested by you) creatively using art materials, puppets and stones. For some, this is a therapeutic way of expressing thoughts and feelings.

You can self-refer to my service and I will accept referrals from professionals with your written consent. I also work both short and long-term, depending on your needs.

My practice is based in the heart of Southsea in a beautiful, ground floor Victorian building. It has a spacious and serene reception, where drinks are provided free of charge. The counselling rooms are peaceful and comfortably furnished, with a built-in sound proof system to maintain complete confidentiality.

It is easily accessible to public transport, with a bus stop directly outside the premises and local roads have up to 3 hours free parking. The centre has wheelchair access and appropriate facilities to meet your requirements.

Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Qualifications & Training

  • Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling with Commendation
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Teaching Second Class Honours (Upper Division)

    Experience
Since 2007, I have been working with both young people and adults. I am experienced in supporting those suffering relationship difficulties, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, abuse, body image issues, eating disorders, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, bereavement, anger, substance misuse, workplace conflicts and bullying. I was also a voluntary counsellor, supervisor, assessor and trainer at Off The Record for a number of years.

    Fees
I charge £40 per session. However, I offer an initial first session for £10, where we can discuss the possibility of working together. After this session, there is no obligation for you to take up counselling with me. Discounted rates are also available for trainee counsellors and those on low income.

Cancellation charges are discussed when we meet or alternatively can be viewed on my website.
