He is trained in Psychodynamic, Solution Focussed and Transactional Analysis counselling as well as Psychosexual Therapy and he works in a way to suit you and the issues you wish to work on from a gentle, exploratory approach through to structured Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) but whatever the approach he respects the culture, ethnicity and sexual orientation of his clients. He originally trained with Relate as a couple counsellor in 1991 and has worked continuously for various Relate centres since. He combined counselling with a successful management career before becoming a full time counsellor and therapist in 2004. He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy which required two years study. As a member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and of The British Association of Sexual and Relationship Therapy (BASRT) Michael is bound by their strict codes of ethics, which require him to have regular supervision, maintain suitable insurance and keep his skills up to date. Michael continues to work for Relate in St Albans alongside his private practice from his purpose-designed counselling room in Harpenden where you are guaranteed complete privacy and confidentiality.
