Any one of us, at any time, may feel the need to talk through emotional issues or just wonder where our lives are going. It may be that it is not appropriate for these concerns to be spoken about with friends or family and that is the time when counselling can help. I can offer open ended sessions to talk about worries and help people come to their own decisions about the way forward, by understanding themselves and others in their life. I help people think about relationships, how the past may affect the present and how early attachment plays a part in how we connect with others as we mature.

I can also help with shorter term support to overcome issues with self esteem, social anxiety or anger, and to work motivationally with a variety of addictions.

I believe strongly that counselling should be available to anyone regardless of culture, gender, sexual orientation, class, age or religion. I feel I offer a person centred, sensitive confidential service to any individual who enters into a therapeutic relationship with me.

    Experience
I have worked for over twenty years as a mental health practitioner in the NHS and local authority. I have also worked as a drug and alcohol counsellor within the NHS. Since 2008 I have counselled at the Watford Women's Centre and also with children, adolescents and family groups within the NHS. I offer supportive sessions to parents and carers. I have worked with a range of complex issues and am therefore well placed to support individuals with a range of concerns or just those wanting to consider where their lives are going.
I have regular supervision with an experienced psychotherapist and have had many years of my own counselling and psychotherapy.
I continue to develop my knowledge with courses and training and am currently undertaking an introductory play therapy training, as well as regular sessions considering a variety of systemic ideas, within my current role in the NHS.

    Fees
I am able to offer concessionary places to those on low incomes, such as students or trainee counsellors. My fees usually range from £25-£40. The initial consultation is free of charge.
