Experienced counsellor based in Stevenage (Hertfordshire) offering a therapeutic counselling service that is tailor-made specifically to meet your needs, personality and preferred style with a strong focus on building a relationship of openness and trust. My consulting room is homely and comfortable but above all I aim to provide a safe place for you to reflect and talk in confidence. There is street parking and a bus stop within a couple of minutes walk.

Counselling can be helpful in offering a new perspective on problems and discovering your own inner potential. Selecting a counsellor amongst many may seem a daunting task. I offer a professional therapeutic relationship that is non-judgemental, empathic, trustworthy and safe to explore any issues you may have.

I offer short-term counselling (6-12 weeks, including one or two-off sessions), and long-term counselling for more in depth exploration.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

I look forward to hearing from you.

You may contact me via e-mail or by phone for an informal chat.

Book a counselling consultation assessment in confidence - 1 hour 30 minutes. This will offer us the opportunity to meet face to face, for me to understand the issues and whether I am the right counsellor to help you, for you to see how you feel about working with me and to jointly discuss and agree a way forward. In addition, we can explore other routes of support that may be available to you from statutory and/or voluntary organisations in the form of signposting or by referral if this is what is needed. Counselling consultation assessments can just be an one off appointment without obligation or commitment to continue. Some clients have found this alone helpful. Or it can form the basis of our therapy work should you wish to continue.

Qualifications & Training
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from the University of Hertfordshire in Psychodynamic and Person Centred Counselling which I completed in 2005. Since then I have had additional training as part of my Continuous Professional Development in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focussed Therapy. I have a particular interest in Mindfulness, meditation and relaxation techniques which I have integrated into my practice when needed. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their Ethical Framework for Good Practice including confidentiality.

Experience
I have undertaken additional training in addiction and worked as a Substance Misuse and Addiction Counsellor for three years. I have experience of working within NHS Primary Care Trust within a GP practice in a multi-cultural setting. I have over six years experience of working with young people with a variety of issues. I have a corporate background in Marketing, Public Relations and Human Resources and extensive experience of dealing with stress in the work place, redundancy and career change.
