I have been a counsellor in private practice for over 13 years and have considerable experience in all types of life issues. I have also worked in the NHS for 10 years. I counsel individuals (from 18 years) and couples, both short and long term.

My approach is mainly psychodynamic, but I also incorporate Gestalt, TA, person centered, Jungian and, if you wish, Christian counselling. I counsel people of all faiths and none, and make no distinction or judgement about a person's faith perspective.

I often use art materials such as a sand tray, puppets, toys, music, poetry and story writing, body sculpt and/or movement, paint etc as well as talking. The use of the arts can deepen the process of exploring the issues which may prevent you from leading an emotionally satisfying life. Please note - you do not need to be 'artistic' to use the arts! However, there is no requirement to use the arts if you do not want to.

My ethos is one of respect and acceptance of where you find yourself at the time of therapy. My aim is to help you to explain your issue, to understand it and yourself better, and to enable you to move forward from the place you are stuck in or wish to change.

I have considerable experience in working with depression, binge eating, self esteem, bereavement, sexuality, age related issues, illness, faith issues, relationships, loneliness, but I have counselled people with many more issues than those listed.

My working environment is comfortable and welcoming.
