I have been working in counselling centres in Tunbridge Wells and London since 2000 and am currently working part time in the NHS as well as having a private practice.
I subscribes to the FPC, UKCP and BACP code of ethics.
If you want to focus on specific problems I offer counselling, either short term or longer. Through counselling you will be able to explore your thoughts and feelings and begin to find more effective ways of taking control of your life. Short term counselling takes place over an agreed number of weekly sessions, normally 12, each lasting 50 minutes. Together we will initially agree a specific goal to work towards.
Psychotherapy also takes place over regular weekly sessions, each lasting for 50 minutes. It is, however, longer term and looks in more depth to see if there are unconscious issues from the past that are influencing your present life. Through a professional relationship it is possible to explore your earlier experiences and emotions and begin to recognise how some patterns are repeated throughout your life. As the therapy progresses and you develop a greater understanding and awareness of past issues and patterns it is possible to change the decisions you make in the future.
I offer an initial exploratory session which usually lasts for 1 hour 15 minutes. This gives you an opportunity to see what therapy is like and gives us time to consider why you are seeking therapy now, to explore the kind of help you are looking for and to decide whether therapy is appropriate for you at this time. There is no obligation to continue. Whatever the outcome of the session, even if we decide not to work together, it can be a valuable experience in itself just to take Stock and think about aspects of your life.Qualifications & Training I trained with the Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF) where I was awarded the Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in 2004 and I qualified as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist in 2008.
My professional association is The Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC) and I am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) as well as being a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).Experience The areas of counselling and psychotherapy that I have experience of includes helping individuals who have a sense that life could be better, who have low self confidence and low self esteem, who are depressed, having difficulties coming through a bereavement, have relationship difficulties, including work related issues or who are anxious or feeling under stress.
