Initial training as a Mental Health Nurse. Trained in Behavioural Psychotherapy - ENB 650 - and then Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; employed as a CBT therapist in the NHS since 1984. My private practice began in 1989 and I continue to see clients regularly at the BMI Lancaster and Abbey Gisburne Park Private Hospitals following referral from professional colleagues and self referral from clients.
Professionally, I have also trained in and practice in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Psychosexual Therapy. As Senior Lecturer at the University of Cumbria since the inauguration of IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) training in 2008, I am course leader for training of CBT therapists in the North West. My NHS commitment remains through specialising in the treatment of trauma one day per week in an NHS Traumatic Stress Service.
