At the beginning there would be an assessment period (of about two sessions). This is a way to find out what you would like to gain from coming to therapy and how best I can support you to achieve you desired outcome.

I might ask you questions about your childhood and your family background and might also enquire about your dreams and memories from your childhood. This allows me to familiarise myself with your life and hopefully have a better understanding of the source of your difficulties.

My role is to interpret and with your support, use my analytical skills and experience to support you in working through your emotional difficulties. The session is patient led (i.e. I may not start the conversation but will instead encourage you to bring things into the session).

There are no right or wrong answers and it is about saying whatever comes to your mind.
