I consider self awareness, acceptance of cultural and social differences and personal views as essential values and believe we are all unique. I am interested in your relationship towards your caregivers and how this has affected you in your adult life. What was missing as you grew up? What did you need? And where did you go for comfort? Unmet developmental needs may have had a profound effect on your wellbeing, and you may be unable to manage your emotions, you may have put up defences and so find it difficult to identify or express your feelings. One off trauma and long term trauma during this time can compound these primal experiences.

Our first session will be looking at what has brought you into counselling, your past and present life, your health and spiritual journey. It is important that you are comfortable with the ways I counsel and for me to share your journey of healing, helping you to find answers yourself. This will also be a time of us getting to know each other and whether or not you would like to continue, as there is no obligation to do so.

As a creative, integrative Psychotherapist, I draw on different theories as and when appropriate. I include Bowlby's Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. As well as talking, I will introduce other interventions, for example working with symbols, drawing, journaling etc., and because my desire is to increase your awareness we will look at your thought process, feelings and sensations in your body, your spiritual wellbeing, and the effect your environment has on your daily life.

    Experience
My initial training, in 2004, was for the National Crisis Pregnancy and Post Abortion Helpline and I have been a volunteer for the Crisis Pregnancy Service in Walthamstow and Cruise Bereavement in Epping. For four years I worked as a volunteer at a counselling agency providing a service for the local community, seeing clients with a wide range of difficulties including childhood abuse and trauma, dissociation, relationship difficulties and mental health issues.

I am an experienced Deep Release Practitioner which means I am interested in the roots of your issues and have monthly Continued Professional Development (CPD) meetings in the form of Regional Training Groups. This is a support network enabling members to keep informed of new developments within psychotherapy.

I also attend different workshops throughout the year to keep my skills at the highest standard helping me to expand on different approaches to counselling.

I currently run a private practice from my home in South Chingford where I see clients for both short and long term psychotherapy.
