I have been a practising counsellor in East London for the past 3 1/2 years. I am committed to providing a professional counselling service in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment, seeing individual clients on a short-term or longer open-ended basis.
I would describe my approach to counselling as humanistic and integrative. Primarily influenced by Carl Roger's core-conditions, I see building up a relationship with my clients which is based on empathy, acceptance and honesty as being central to helping them effect psychological change.
My practice is based in Hackney, East London and is easily accessible by public transport.
I am a member of the BACP and ascribe to their code of ethics, receiving appropriate supervision for all the work I undertake.Qualifications & Training I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Hackney Community College, 2007) and am currently undertaking an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Regent's College in London.
I completed comprehensive training in bereavement counselling and in working with young people (including a course on working creatively in the therapeutic process) before starting my placements at the City and East London Bereavement Service (2006) and Youthreach (2009).Experience I have worked as a volunteer bereavement counsellor at the City and East London Bereavement Service since 2006 an as an honorary counsellor at Youthreach since 2009. I started working privately as a counsellor in 2008.
Outside of counselling I have 10 years experience of working in the voluntary/not-for-profit sector, including several years spent working for the British Red Cross and also for a large London-based housing association. My work has brought me into contact with a wide range of client groups.Fees I charge £30 per session, although I am willing to negotiate a slightly lower fee for students or those on low incomes. I am happy to offer prospective clients an initial consultation free of charge.
