My practice in Ilford offers a highly professional counselling and psychology service with values based on equality, dignity, confidentiality, and informed research-based reflective practice.
I view independence and self direction as the path to well-being. My aim is to help you sort things out and then help you move on to living the therapy. Rarely do people need therapy for years.
My aim is to enable and empower so those I see learn their own successful ways to cope with the challenges life throws out.
My connection to Redbridge is long standing. I first worked here in 1987 for MENCAP. Since then I was also a lecturer at Redbridge College and University of East London. I was also Company Secretary and then Chair of the Redbridge Volunteer Bureau for three years. I feel close to this community and its people. I have also lived in South Woodford, Chadwell Heath, Seven Kings, Gants Hill, Buckhurst Hill, and Chigwell. Knowing and living in this community shapes my work, since I realise how strong and proud our people are.
My approach to counselling is not about jargon, diagnoses, and calling you names you dont understand. I am a plain English guy and neither of us needs fancy speak to understand each other. My aim is to de-mystify counselling and treat the people I see with dignity as equals facing what life brings us. I use a range of models that include CBT, psychodynamic, person centred, gestalt, behavioural as well as specialist models. Visit my web site for more details.
I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to help people in mental distress or in whatever state of need, trauma, or adverse circumstances.
Research shows that, as counsellors become more experienced, their styles and approaches become more and more similar. The point is that, even with all the different theories, abiding principles are shared as life never follows the plan we expect so we must always be flexible.Qualifications & Training Doctor of Education Ed.D.
