I start by listening carefuly to your thoughts and feelings and asking you a few questions to help me understand how things are for you. Later we might look at your past and present relationships, and at the way we are getting along.
I have found that this kind of work often leads to self-understanding and relief of anxiety. Sometimes we might pick a very specific thing that you wanted to change, and then we would work on the detailed thoughts, feelings and behaviour that seem to be involved. I will be sure to seek your feedback on the way we are working to make sure that it is helping you with the issues you bring to counselling. The sessions are usually 50 minutes, and usually on a weekly basis, though other arrangements could be agreed between us.Qualifications & Training Relate Certificate in Marital and Couple Counselling 1994.
