If you are struggling with something in your life, feeling stressed, anxious, depressed perhaps and can’t seem to find your way then talking with a therapist could help you.

In our younger lives we develop ways of managing difficult situations that we continue in the present. These coping mechanisms could be out of date in your life now and contributing to the difficulties you experience.

Therapy and counselling offer a consistent time, space and relationship in which to consider yourself and your life, become aware of these unhelpful patterns of behaviour, express feelings and recognise what you want to change or find a way to accept in your life.

Deciding to seek therapy or counselling for the first time might seem like a step into the unknown and it can take courage and a commitment to taking yourself and your feelings seriously. It might be helpful to know that well-trained, thoughtful therapists will have taken that step before you and will know how it felt for them.

Change is possible and I know this personally having found myself very unhappy some years ago. Therapy has supported me in many ways - not least in becoming more aware of myself and how I manage my life, and encouraging me to take responsibility for my own happiness and satisfaction. I went on to train as a therapist knowing how much I had gained from the process.

Meeting and working with me could help if you want to:

  • Understand more about yourself
  • Enhance your relationships with yourself and others
  • Talk knowing that you will be really heard
  • Learn to express feelings such as anger, sadness or joy in a satisfying way
  • Feel genuinely happier in the long run and enjoy your life more
  • Feel comfortable in your relationship with food and your body

I offer a warm, responsive style of psychotherapy and will listen carefully and with compassion to you. The list below illustrates some of the themes I have experience of supporting my clients with:

  • Anxiety
  • Anger management
  • Bereavement and grief
  • Bulimia
  • Career difficulties
  • Compulsive overeating, emotional and comfort eating
  • Depression and Post-natal Depression
  • Difficult relationship with food
  • Exploring creativity and creativity blockage
  • Life balance for working parents or carers
  • Low self-esteem

I am trained and have experience of working with the Beyond Chocolate approach which is particularly effective for these issues.  Please see my website for more details.
