I am a Humanistic therapist which means I believe in the individuality of each person with whom I work. I will understand and respect who you are and your unique life experiences.

I believe that while our histories continue to impact us in the present, this is not all that we are and I am interested in how we shape and manage ourselves in response to our experience every day.

I draw from a range of psychotherapeutic theories and work in a conversational way. My aim is to be creative to ensure that therapy is specific to your needs.

Therapy can be both open-ended or short-term for as long as you find it valuable and useful in your life.

Areas of particular interest include:

  • Building self-esteem and learning self-care techniques.
  • Creating and managing satisfying relationships with partners, family, friends and colleagues.
  • Multicultural and identity issues.
  • Managing relationships with family members affected by mental ill health.

    Qualifications & Training
I am a graduate of Spectrum Training which is a United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) member organisation. I abide by their code of ethics & practice.

  • 2003 Oxford Cambridge & Royal Society of Arts (OCR) Certificate in Counselling Skills.
  • 2003 Spectrum One Year course in Psychotherapy.
  • 2005 Spectrum Post Graduate course in Psychotherapy.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP), I am also bound by its ethical framework for good practice.

In addition to my core training over 9 years, I have also completed training in:

  • Anger Management
  • Transforming Relationships
  • Childhood Sexual Abuse: Occurrence and Prevention
  • Re-parenting
  • Sexuality
  • Theory & Practice of Gestalt

    Experience
With a BA (Hons) in Corporate Communication, Post Graduate Diploma and an MA in Marketing, I worked in UK and international Qualitative Research for over 12 years. My work involved moderating discussion groups, providing consultancy, and actively listening to and connecting with a diverse range of individuals. I also gained a rich understanding of career and workplace issues.

Before choosing to work in private practice, I worked as a therapist in the voluntary sector for Richmond Borough MIND from 2006-7.

    Fees
£50 for an hour (with individuals).
