My approach to counselling is Integrative. This means that I will work with you, as my client, drawing from a variety of models of counselling according to your individual needs and in a way that I feel is most valuable, therapeutic and effective for achieving positive change and transformation.
For me as a counsellor, it is important to create an atmosphere of understanding and acceptance to facilitate and enhance the therapeutic work.
I will not give you advice or judge you or direct you to take a particular course of action. I will not sit in silence either but actively interact and work with you.
Health and positive change often entails creating and maintaining meaningful and fulfilling relationships with self and others. Challenges and issues that we experience carry an opportunity for inner transformation and healing.
We all have the capacity and desire for self-realization, healing, intelligence and creativity.
Change happens at an individual pace and course. I generally see clients on a medium or longer-term basis and I have, on occasions, carried out short-term solution focused therapy.
I have interest and experience in working in areas such as anxiety, addictions, loss, cultural issues, depression, relationships, confidence and self-development, stress and work related issues.Qualifications & Training My qualifications and professional training include a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Thames Valley University in Existential and Person Centred Models (BACP Course Accredited), a Certificate in Counselling with Merit at Birkbeck, The Essentials of Psychosynthesis Training, Shame and Self-Esteem module studies in Psychoanalytical Psychology at Birkbeck University.
