Exploration - support - clarity.
Nearly everyone experiences difficulties or a feeling of 'stuckness' at some point in their life. Most people come to counselling because some part of their life isn't working as well as they want it to. By working with a counsellor it is possible to look at blocks or difficulties being experienced and ways to move forward.
I am a qualified counsellor, member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and have been working with clients since December 2005.
Counselling provides a place to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours without judgments being made. It gives you a safe space in which to be fully heard. By working together it is possible to look at blocks or difficulties being experienced and ways to move forward. During the sessions you will be able to speak in confidence in a supportive environment. Through sharing experiences it may be possible to see things more clearly, and understand any current life struggles.
My counselling uses the Gestalt approach which means that our sessions will be holistic, working with your whole experience - what you are thinking, feeling and sensing. The focus will be on your present experience; what is happening now. One aim is to increase your awareness and understanding of yourself, and your life.
The first session gives us the chance to meet and find out whether you would like to continue working together or not.
All sessions are 50 minutes each. The number of sessions will be jointly agreed on a regular, and ongoing, basis. Once we have met and agreed to work together sessions will take place weekly (on the same day at the same time). Sessions take place during the evenings.
