I work psychodynamically - in other words exploring how the past and the internal world of the individual impacts on the present and our experience of relationships and events. It can be helpful to think about the patterns, beliefs about ourselves, and behaviours, that have developed early in life. Through increased self awareness and understanding we can begin to consider other choices and change.
The process is similar with couple work where the focus is particularly on the relationship and how each partner has contributed to the development of patterns and ways of relating. It is useful to look at these aspects in a non-blaming way to create better understanding and empathy between partners.
I offer a confidential, non-judgemental and facilitating environment where difficult and painful issues can be addressed. I have been practising for over 15 years and work within the UKCP professional ethics and guidelines.Qualifications & Training

From a social work background, I trained as an integrative counsellor alongside my work with families. I developed an interest in couple and family work so trained with Relate where I worked for many years, both as a couples and young people's counsellor and later as a clinical supervisor.
