I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor (BA Hons), trained at the Metanoia Institute and have been working with individuals, couples and groups since 2002.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapy) the leading professional body for counselling and psychotherapy. As a member I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. In accordance with these professional requirements and to maintain good practice I undergo regular supervision to support my work.

PERSON-CENTRED COUNSELLING

The person-centred approach is a non-directive, supportive therapy, which is based upon the deep respect and trust in the individual s capacity for growth and development.

I hope to provide a confidential and safe space in which you will find me to be genuine, accepting and caring. I aim to follow your lead to freely express your emotions and enable you to bring clarity to the issues that arise.

You may be experiencing difficulties in making an important decision, coping with a crises at work or home or want to look at who your are or where you stand with regard to a particular live situation and gain insight and understanding it and yourself.

I believe in the uniqueness of each client and always aim to make every effort to understand experiences from their point of view in a relationship-based collaborative way. By facilitating a safe and trustworthy environment I believe that the client is being empowered and fully capable of finding a way forward and initiate change.

COUPLES COUNSELLING

Couples counselling is an important part of my work. It can provide a safe space in which couples are able to discuss the way they behave and feel toward one another.

Difficulties can surface at any time, even stable relationships can experience rough patches where false assumptions, poor communication, challenging external circumstances or behaviour (illness, loss, addiction) create problems within the relationship.

In collaboration with the couple I aim to find new ways of dealing with problems, increase understanding and enable change in a healthy, respectful way.

If a couple has reached the point when they view it is more beneficial to part, couples counselling can prove invaluable to help to mediate this difficult process.

Couples counselling is not only for couples but can benefit individuals who are:
  • unhappy or concerned about their relationship (partner, family member, work colleague(s))
  • managing a relationship when a partner is unable or unwilling to attend
  • where an individual has to cope with a loss of a partner (divorce, separation, death).
