The best way to find the right therapist is to ensure that they are professionally accredited - and then to trust your gut instinct. This relationship is for you and only you can decide who "fits". If you would like to meet me and talk about the way that I work, I offer a free 30 minute consultation. Or, I am happy to answer your questions on the phone, or by e-mail.

We all have times when life is difficult to manage and enjoy. Sometimes, this is because of a difficulty with an important current relationship or the result of a recent trauma. Sometimes, it is because we carry forward feelings from the past and we can't work through them or shake them off on our own. Often, it is a combination of the two which brings us distress. We feel unhappy, even depressed. We can become anxious... perhaps our sleep becomes disturbed. We want to be a good friend, partner, parent but notice that we are getting argumentative or becoming withdrawn.

If we can talk it through with someone else and then recover, we can feel stronger for having weathered adversity and pleased that we are "back on track". If taking to friends is not enough, then counselling can be a real help... so long as you find the right person for you. Someone you can feel comfortable enough to talk openly to and who can offer new perspectives, without telling you what to do. If you would like a free phone or face to face consultation - there is no obligation. You are welcome to use this time just to get clear about your needs.
