The individual within particular circumstances, the task as it is presented and gradually emerges, the range of therapeutic methods - these are the elements which determine the work. Creating the appropriate relationship is essential and an initial consultation, with no commitment, is always provided.
This kind of multi-aspect approach means that what happens varies widely. Some problems are clear and often dealt with fairly quickly, phobias or simple habits for example. Others such as long-standing anxiety, depression and repeated relationship failure are likely to require much more exploration and treatment.
If it is possible I like to work cooperatively and, when ending, both to review the process and to teach strategies to prevent reoccurrence.
I have a wide range of training and draw on a correspondingly wide range of techniques. These have been written up in many articles in such publications as Therapy (BACP), Fidelity (NCP), Hypnotherapy Journal (NCH), Independent Practitioner and Positive Health.
Those with positive aspirations, as distinct from difficulty and distress, are also helped. Supervision and teaching experience with one-to-one, bereavement, RAF padres, adult education and other local organisations.Fees Variable according to income and circumstances, usually reducing over time. A typical starting fee would be around £25-30 an hour. The initial consultation is free.
