CREATIVE THERAPY FOR ADULTS
Clients attend a one-hour assessment session, during which we discuss the needs and the options. You might be invited to draw a picture or to use your intuition in placing objects in a sandtray. This can help with the assessment process.

Some busy people want short-term counselling. We then agree five further sessions with specific focused targets. Others prefer longer-term therapy, which is usually reviewed every four sessions.

People coming for creative therapy usually have difficulties such as panic, anxiety, depression or sleep difficulties. They might have suffered loss or experienced trauma or childhood abuse. Couples might have relationship or sexual difficulties. All these can be helped through talking and nonverbal creative approaches.

CREATIVE PLAY THERAPY FOR CHILDREN
A child aged 3 or over might be experiencing difficulties such as being withdrawn, anxious, hyperactive, autistic & Asperger's tendencies, defiance, sensory issues or selective mutism.

Play therapy by a qualified practitioner provides a largely nonverbal approach to resolving or coming to terms with emotional issues. It uses the child's natural means of solving problems - play - so for the child it is often a fun 'special time', not 'therapy' because he or she has a 'problem'.

The child and parent or carer attend together an initial session with both Roger Day (a Certified Play Therapist) and Christine Day (a qualified Nursery Nurse with a diploma in counselling). The child will be invited to produce a drawing or some other creative approach as part of the session. The parent & carer will discuss with the therapists the child's difficulties in the child's hearing. Agreement will then be reached on the way forward.

Play therapy sessions last up to one hour and take place in a specially equipped play room full of a wide range of attractive toys and other objects. There are always two therapists present for maximum safety. Both therapists have up to date Enhanced CRB checks, copies of which are available for inspection.
