There are different therapeutic counselling approaches. Person Centred counselling is non-directive and enables you to develop a greater understanding of yourself and move towards personal growth. Systemic counselling is often used for family therapy and couple work. It takes account of the wider family and other systems impacting upon your life. When working with clients I use these two models primarily. However, when working, I consider you and your particular issues, and where I feel it will be helpful I use other approaches too. For example, Transactional Analysis can be helpful for developing awareness of, and improving, communications between people.

I will not judge you or tell you what to do.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy I work within their Code of Ethics and Practice for Counsellors which can be viewed on their website.

Counselling is confidential. There are, however, some legal restrictions to confidentiality and they will be discussed with you at your first counselling session (or on the telephone beforehand if you wish).

I receive regular supervision, which is a standard professional requirement.

My counselling services are covered by full Professional Indemnity Insurance.
