Following a career in social work, I have been a practising counsellor for 22 years. I have completed a Masters Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. The foundation of my approach is person centred but I have also received training in Cognitive Behavioural techniques (CBT), psychodynamic theory and Transactional Analysis. I engage with the client to establish what approach is going to be most helpful for them.
I have experience in and am comfortable helping clients to address issues of abuse, problems from childhood, relationship difficulties, loss, anger and other troublesome emotions, depression, anxiety, obsessions, sexuality, eating disorders, existential concerns ("what is life all about?"), and spirituality. I am willing to see couples and family groups as well as individuals.
I am fully accredited by the Association of Christian Counsellors and abide by their Code of Ethics. I am a committed Christian but do not use my counselling work as an opportunity to share my faith. I hold full insurance cover.
I most commonly see clients in a suitably equipped room in my own home.
I also offer supervision to trainee and qualified counselling practitioners.
Fees I charge £35-40 for each session of 50 minutes and normally arrange sessions at weekly or fortnightly intervals depending on what is most appropriate for the client.
