In my work, I use an integration of Psychodynamic counselling and Person Centred counselling.
Therefore the type of counselling I offer involves some exploration of early life experiences as a way of understanding how these experiences shape our understanding, relating to and being in the world now. However as clients are primarily concerned with difficulties in the present much of the emphasis of the counselling focusses on the "here and now".
This of course varies depending on the clients' needs. Some clients have issues from the past that continue to trouble them, and feel the need to focus on those issues. Whereas other clients come to counselling because of something that has happened recently in their life, e.g, a relationship breakdown and prefer to focus on that, but use reflections on their past to understand how/why they cope with things in a certain way in the present.
I aim to provide a confidential, professional, authentic and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship, where you will be able to speak freely about the issues that you are struggling with.Qualifications & Training Diploma in Contemporary Psychodynamic counselling (2007).Experience I have worked continuously as an associate counsellor for local counselling agencies since 2004, and continue to offer my services for two local agencies, most recently working with survivors of sexual violence and sexual abuse.Fees £25.00 for initial one hour assessment session.
